To be held from 3 to 6 PM during Session 1 (June 22 to July 3) and Session 2 (July 6 to 17), the new afternoon section provides an opportunity for those currently on the waitlist to join our most popular class! For those seeking a full-day option, the new Afternoon - Beginner Opti class—eligible for transportation from a PM Program (12 to 3 PM) at MSA's partner camp, Summer at Brookwood—is perfect!
Registration will open for Sessions 1 and 2 of the new Afternoon - Beginner Opti class section on Tuesday, February 24, at 12 PM EST.

Summer 2026 JSP - Currently Offered Sections of Beginner Opti
Morning - Beginner Opti: 9 AM to 12 PM (offered during all Sessions)
Midday - Beginner Opti: 12 to 3 PM (offered during all Sessions)
Afternoon - Beginner Opti: 3 to 6 PM (offered Sessions 1 and 2 only)
Beginner Opti is perfect for young sailors (ages 8-13) who have completed one session of Learn to Sail, have mastered the Sea Urchins class, or can demonstrate similar skills learned outside of MSA. Beginner Opti participants refine skills learned previously and build on that foundation through independent rigging and single-handed sailing in our new Zim Prams, a modernized version of the classic Optimist dinghy.
