The MSA staff is comprised of junior and senior instructors. The hiring process is completed each winter and spring, with many instructors returning for multiple years.

Junior Instructors are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of sailing fundamentals as well as a basic grasp of racing theory. Many junior instructors work in the morning and race with MSA in the afternoon.

Instructor Requirements:

• Age: 

• Junior Instructor: 16+

• Senior Instructor: 18+

• Experience: 3+ years (full summers) of sailing experience

• Certifications:

• US Sailing Level 1

• NASBLA Safe Boating Certificate

• Adult/Pediatric First Aid/CPR complying with USCG requirements

• CDC Heads Up Certification

•
