The 420 is the ideal boat for young sailors to learn boat handling and racing skills. Its name implies its overall length of 420 centimeters, or approximately 13 feet, 8 inches. This stable, two person boat with a mainsail and a jib is the national standard for developing teamwork skills. As sailors advance, they can add a spinnaker and a trapeze for a more exciting and challenging ride. The 420 is used in the Ensign, Mariner and Skipper classes, and by the 420 Race Team.
