Session 2 ends with a Blow!
July 24, 2009

At the time of this writing, the summer Nor'easter is sliding away, but leaving behind some of the biggest winds of the summer.  Gusts have been clocked to 30 knots, with a steady 15-20 in between.  The curtains of rain that kept most of our sailors grounded this morning have stopped and a few of our more experienced sailors (Skippers and Ensigns) are racing across the harbor in 420s to the delight of all watching.

With the wind still too strong for safe sailing, our Mates and Bosuns have remained on shore to finish up Session 2 with some sailing games and quizzes.  A fine finish to a fun-filled two weeks that saw every type of weather and every type of sailing.  Session 2 is most memorable for the first real summer weather on the harbor this season, and all participants celebrated with some great sails and refreshing swimming and water fights.  The Skippers seemed to be the most fun-loving group we've had in recent times and they teamed up a few times with the Ensigns to spread the fun to all the 420 sailors.  The Bosuns became a very tight-knit group and enjoyed the one-on-one attention from the instructors that a smaller group affords.  The Mates always have fun, and this group did not disappoint.  Our Mariners and Bosuns II, while small groups, all seemed to come from the same brood and each day was like a family outing.

From Sea Urchins to Adults, this was a great session.  We're looking forward to a great start to Session 3 on Monday!
