Tuesday, July 7, was a rainy, storm-warning type of day, but the rookie racers of the Opti Green fleet took to the waters anyway and turned the 3rd Annual MSA Opti Green Fleet Regatta into a rousing success.  With a keen eye on the radar, race officials sent 34 Greenies, from MSA, Pleon and Sandy Bay, out into Sand Dollar Cove for race #1, a triangle course completed first by MSA's own Antonia Leggett.  When asked how she managed such a brilliant race, she replied "I guess I just got a really good start!"  Wise words no matter what your age.

With new storms threatening, the fleet was sent back to the MYC for an excellent lunch under the "tent," the only dry place on the harbor.  Sailors were in good spirits and probably would have been content with just the one race, but they were here to learn that racing means getting on the water whenever you have a chance.  With a window of dry weather ahead, and no threat of lightning, the boats were back on the water for two more races. 

With weather threatening the trip home for our friends from Pleon and Sandy Bay, the regatta concluded and the sailors waited in hushed silence for the results to be read.  Cheers of excitement rang out as each of the top five were awarded their stunning silver bowls, and when all was said and done, two MSA sailors were holding hardware: Quinlan Byrne in 2nd place and Antonia Leggett in 5th!
