NOTICE OF RACE

Manchester Sailing Assoc. Optimist Green Fleet Invite

July 8, 2007


The organizing authority is the Manchester Sailing Association in conjunction with the Manchester Yacht Club

1.Rules
The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 (RRS), the Optimist Class rules and this Notice of Race, except in the event that any of the above are modified by the Sailing Instructions and the appendices to the Sailing Instructions.

2. Changes to the Racing Rules
2.1 RRS 40 (Personal Buoyancy) will be changed by adding: -Competitors must wear a Coast Guard approved PFD at all times when on the water.
2.2 Coaching: Green Fleet Policies apply-Coaching will be allowed in the bottom half of the fleet during any given race.

3. Eligibility
3.1 The Regatta is open to all boats of the International Optimist Dinghy Class which conform to IODA Class Rules. All competitors must be members of the US Optimist Dinghy Association and have been born on or after January 1, 1993.
Green Fleet Policies apply.

4. Classes
4.1 Optimist (Green Fleet Only)-Competitors must bring their own boats and are encouraged to bring their own dollies.

5. Fees
5.1 The entry fee is $25.
5.2 There will be no refunds.

6. Schedule
900-10:00 Arrival, Check-in
1030 Skippers Meeting, SNACK to follow on shore
1130 Launch/Harbor Start
1500 No races begun after
1530 LUNCH and Awards

7. Entry Deadlines
7.1 All skippers must complete the regatta entry form (including the Emergency Medical Form for each participant) and submit it with appropriate fees to: Lisa McNamara, 30 William Fairfield Drive, Wenham, MA 01984, by JULY 5, 2008 or receive oral permission for late entry by calling 978-468-4762 7.2 No more than 40 boats will be accepted.

8. Check -In and Registration
8.1 Check-in will be held at the Manchester Yacht Club on July, 8th from 9:00 -10:00.
8.2 Registration deadline is 10:00 am on July 8th 8.3 All competitors must check in to be scored.
8.4 ABSOLUTELY NO BOATS may be dropped off before 8:30 a.m. on July 8th, 2007.


9. Skipper's Meeting
9.1The skipper's meeting will be held at 10:30 on July 8th at Tuck's Point lawn.

10. Prizes
10.1 Regatta awards will be given for first through fifth place.

11. Sailing Instructions
11.1 Sailing instructions will be available at check-in.

12. Courses
12.1 Courses will be described in the sailing instructions.

13. Scoring
13.1 The Low -Point System will apply.
13.2 Two races shall constitute a regatta.
13.3 If five or more races are completed a boat may exclude the worst score.
13.4 Special scoring may apply to championships.
